Minecraft, a game that was officially released in 2011, is a 3d sandbox game where you can build whatever you like with plenty of different types of blocks and materials, exploring biomes, fighting monsters or "mobs" and generally doing whatever you want to. You have the option of single player with your own world or to play with others through the realms and multiplayer servers, and with multiplayer and the massive world of minecraft servers it opens a bigger world beyond just building, mining and crafting.
Many people have played or atleast heard of this game at some point, its been very popular within the recent years of twitch streamers playing it and even before then were there plenty of minecraft lets players on youtube that were extremely popular.
I've been playing this game for over 10 years and I still am actively playing it to this day. Going and playing minecraft pocket edition lite was the first time I touched the game, to getting it officially and creating my first username to play on the family computer and then even getting my own computer to play with internet friends i've met on servers.
This game is what introduced me to the internet and has literally been the corner stone of everything I've done, making shitty 3d animations on mine-imator, meeting people on servers and talking with them through skype. I've had minecraft on pc, mobile, ps3, ps4, and im planning on getting it for my 3ds aswell. And my technically first computer (but not really a computer) was a raspbery pi that was build to only play minecraft on it and i remember vividly the shitty silicone pink keyboard I had connected to that thing connected to a crt monitor.
I was so fixated on this fucking game as a kid that I wathed plenty of youtubers who played this game, woke up early before school at like 6:30 am to have some time to play before I go, bought $.99 minecraft parodies like "Don't Mine at Night", "take back the night", "fallen kngdom", "revenge", and so many more. I don't even know how much money I spent on all the songs I bought off of Itunes but I garentee theres still on that busted Ipod touch. Some of my first fanart were drawings on a whiteboard of some youtubers minecraft skin that I sent via email.
I used to try and build minecraft servers and my first ever server got griefed after I made a website on wix advertising it and I had no idea how to protect the server but over time i built a whole server with a shitty little map and added tons of plugins and mini games. They never went anywhere though and was entirely just enhabited by me and my friends. Some of my greatest memories are from playing minecraft with friends, i've met some really cool people through this game either from servers or just because we both loved the game.
The Game
And here's the part where I talk about playing the game, I typically do play multiplayer but it's usually servers I make myself for me and my friends so we can build a little city together but lately i've been wanting to get closer to singleplayer worlds again. But heres my rundown of minecraft as I play it.
The Beginning
I often start like anyone else would, getting wood, getting tools and some food, but after that i like to travel for a while til i can find a beautifuly biome that I can work with to build my home at. i often aim for the taiga forests since its my favorite biome, i love the spruce wood and the foxes that live around, the rivers and the great supply of cobblestone cuncks around to give the land some foresty teture. my homes are usually cabins or homes dug directly into the side of mountains and hills, kind of liek a hobbit home I guess. Most of the time I spend hours setting up the place, having automatic smelting systems , automatic sheep farm for wool (for the nether and end), setting of a wheat farm nearby, and getting some sort of access to villagers so i can get some good trades like enchanted books. Im actually really terrible when it comes to finding diamonds but with the most recent caves update it's gotten significantly easier since I don't have to depend on the task of strip mining anymore.
The Nether
The nether is actually my favorite dimention in minecraft, the biomes within the Nether are all so fucking cool from the soul sand deserts to the warped forests its all just so fucking amazing. I love how it feels significantly more difficult yet still very fun to explore. The blocks makes wonderful sounds too from the bone blocks making a satisfying echoy thunk to the sound of the netherrack with an almost mushy crunch.
The mobs too are also so fun, the hoglins and how they interact with the player to the strider that hangs around and often found just stacked on eachother. The atmosphere of this biome is oddly comforting too, the geiger counter-like clicks and the particles floating around makes it feel very dangerous yet i feel almost comforted by how heavy and (obviously) warm the vibe of the dimention.
I often come into the nether to find nether fortesses and use it for faster travel from one place to another, having easier access to friends who lvie farther away, or going to a new place quicker. I tend to go netherite mining by bringing a shit ton of beds, wool and wood with me or running to a warped forest to get enderpearls from all the endermen that spawn there.
The End
I've beaten the enderdragon only a few times by myself, i am capable of doing it myself very easily I just like doing the whole boss battle thing with friends since it's more fun in my opinion with everyone running around and dying. Sure the end is pretty great with being able to explore the endless void and find abandoned end cities for elytras for faster travel and shulker boxes for transporting blocks. my only use for the end specifically is to set up an XP farm using endermen, and of course the end cities but after I get wings and a few shulker boxes I don't explore much farther out.
But the only reason I wanted a section here is for after you beat the ender dragon. As you dive into the newly opened portal to return home, the screen dips into a black and slowly fades back in, but you arn't at your home and all you see is a slowly scrolling dirt background and the poem begins.
There's a lot I could say about this poem, about how it leaves a bittersweet ache in my heart and throat, how this game has esseentially kept me alive throughout my life, and how this poem still seems to stick around. It's hard to properly describe how I feel about this game and the end poem, getting emotional over a silly block game but man this game has done so more for me than ayone in my life ever has. It feels like even language itself is holding me back from every little detail and deep texture of an emotion I feel over the end poem, the music, this game, and the memories.
I love this gave very much, and im disapointed that I have very little words to be able to describe what it means to me.
"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." -Unknown
I am gonna get a tattoo based on this poem or atleast a small snippet of it since it means a lot to me, but yeah the silly block game pulls at my heart strings a little, what can I say?

ITEMS
Got this years ago and its pretty faded and the collar pretty fucked up from wear and tears of me chewing on the collar and bleach stains from dying my hair. I still have this and i don't ever plan on getting rid of it, It's one of my favorite articles of clothing and its one of the only good things I have left from my childhood. Pretty damn good shirt.
Currently Own
Been wanting this guy for a while and finally got em on ebay, I love this thing its so soft. I do have to replace the polyfill since it's a bit lumpy but this guy has a special place on my bed to keep me company at night.
Currently Own
I used to have a minecraft creeper and enderman plush, the enderman was torn up by my dog when she was a tiny puppy and the creeper I ended up giving away. I plan on trying to refind the same plushies and getting these guys again, they were so soft and I fucking loved these guys. (also made some some minecraft characters based off of these guys as a kid too)
Previously Owned : Planning on Purchasing
I also had almost all of the minecraft handbooks, but these are also sadly lost to time from me moving so frequestnly within the last few years of my life. I may also end up rebuying these for the sake of collecting and generally reliving some memories.
Previously Owned : Planning on Purchasing
I really want to try this icecream out, the flavors unironically sound really fucking good and I wanna try em all (plus i think it'd be funny to collect the buckets or something since idk how long minecraft will be selling icecream for)
Planning on Purchasing
I saw people showing pictures of this thing and lost my mind, been meaning to get myself a minifridge for a while and this seems like it'd be perfect for me. I'm surprised it's only $99 to be honest. i did see like atnt, creeper head and a normal creeper fridge but I tihnk this one is my favorite.
Planning On Purchasing
I have these in an ebay wishlist, hopefully i can snag these guys but they seem to be for sale for a pretty hefty price on ebay. It'll be worth it though.
Planning On Purchasing
Stumbled upon this on etsy while doing my usual "window shopping", I did recently get a casette player (as of december 2023) so i'm real excited to eventually get this guy.
Planning On Purchasing
Lovely hoodie that I desperately want that I also found on etsy, been holding off on it since its about $50, but it seems so fucking nice i would wear the hell out of this thing.
Planning On Purchasing
Some other misc items were some old minecraft posters I sued to have (forgot which ones), some old paper craft, a figureine of my minecraft skin at the time and I currently have this weird ass minecraft seeds book thats just absolutely nuts to read through. It's a book made entirely on google docs and then printed out and I found it in one of those little library stands, I HAD to fucking take it how could I not (dont worry I did trade in a book in return for this glorious find).
I also have a couple mini minecraft figurines from those little minecraft mystery boxes with that moon dough(?) stuff. I lost the sand but I kept the figurines.
